Volleyball Court Dimensions and Some Other Specifications

Length: 18 meters (59 feet)
Width: 9 meters (29.5 feet)
These measurements are taken from the outer edges of the boundary lines.

Around the volleyball court, there must be a clear area of at least 3 meters (9.8 feet) on all sides.

The court boundary lines should be 5 cm (2 inches) wide and must be a distinctly different color from the color of the playing surface.

Significance of the standard volleyball court boundary lines
The standard volleyball court dimensions encompass more than just length and width; the layout of boundary lines on the court is equally important. Specifically:

Centerline: Divides the volleyball court in half widthwise to separate the two sides of play.

End lines: Located at each end of the volleyball court.

Sidelines: Run along the longer sides of the rectangular playing area.

Attack lines: Run parallel to the centerline, located 3 meters (9.8 feet) away from the centerline on each side. Additionally, there are five broken lines on each side, with a total combined length of 1.75 meters (5.7 feet).

The net height for men’s volleyball is 2.43 meters (7 feet 11 5/8 inches), and for women’s volleyball, it is 2.4 meters (7 feet 10 1/8 inches) above the center of the playing area.

The volleyball net is 1 meter (3 feet 3 3/8 inches) wide and 10 meters (32 feet 9 3/4 inches) long, stretched horizontally across the centerline, evenly dividing the court into two sides.

The height of the net poles is 2.55 meters (8 feet 4 1/2 inches) and they are placed 1 meter (3 feet 3 3/8 inches) outside the sidelines. The poles are securely fixed to prevent the net from sagging.
